Property: White crystals with slight yelow; Sp.Gr.2.17(20 ), M.P.271 , soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol and ether, deliquescence, when heated at 320 ), decomposes to O2.N2, Na2O NO or NO2.Easily burn and explode when mixed with organic materials. It gives off nitrogen oxide when burns. Absorbs oxygen from air, evolves as NaNO2, it is strong poison, do not contact with skin to avoid pollution or toxicant.

Uses: Mainly used for manufacture of nitrocompound, azodye, bleaching agent, mordant and heat treatment of metal etc.
